Rafael Viñoly Architects website
The web is definitely moving toward a more interactive and real-time experience. I recently stumbled upon this website for Rafael Viñoly Architects. The home page features a hand doing a sketch for an Architectural drawing. Every time you visit the page, something different is being drawn. I think this gives an inside glimpse into their process, and is very interesting for a customer or potential customer to see.
Personally though, I find moving elements on the page to be distracting, even though I can understand why they can be useful.

Fort Washington Library Children's Room
Last week, I wandered into the children's room at the Fort Washington branch of the New York public library. The adult room downstairs is on the older side, with dark brown wooden bookshelves and a few computers. But when I climbed the stairs to the children's room, I literally stopped and went "oooohhh!"
Here's the view as you walk up the stairs:
(The picture inside is the library itself)
Then, turning the corner:
Each amazing lampshade has black and white silhouette's of children and animals playing. But since the shade are so gigantic, there are images printed on the inside as well! They mostly chose pictures and old maps of New York.
This is is really a gem of a room, hidden way uptown in a neighborhood of Dominican immigrants. The pictures don't show it, but there are also mini couches and colorful rugs to curl up on. Hopefully, it will encourage parents and kids to spend some quality time together reading there!

Letterpress branding package giveaway at Dingbat Press!
I was very excited to see that Adrienne at Dingbat Press is offering an amazing opportunity: she is giving away a branding package, perfect for a small business, complete with business cards, tags, banners, avatars - the works! I really admire Adrienne's amazing designs and I have referenced her blog for inspiration in my own work, especially the business cards. Recently, I felt like I ran out of ideas for business cards, so I started scrolling through her designs, and then I got my aha! moment, which I translated, and the client loved.
I am planning to expand my shop and start offering invitation designs in my shop as well the greeting cards that I currently have. I am still in the research stage on pricing and execution, but hope to get the first one up soon!
I would love to have the opportunity to work with Adrienne on improving my own etsy shop and brand! As a graphic designer myself, it would be great to get feedback and suggestions from another designer. (And I also love letterpress :).
Best of luck to everyone!

Paper cuts
Peter Callesen has created some of the smart, most delicate works I have ever seen. Not only must each cut be made with exact precision, but there is also a concept behind each piece.
On his larger scale pieces, you wonder - is that really made of paper?!
Some of his pieces also show the pop-up with the paper it was cut from, adding to the amazing effect. He turns regular white paper into something that can bring into another world, and with incredible emotion.
You can see more of his work on his site: http://www.petercallesen.com
