I just finished watching the first of a 5 part series on PBS.org called "Craft in America." The first part is called "Memory" and it tells the tale of furniture makers, basket weavers and blacksmiths who take pride in creating beautiful handmade objects, both functional and as art, that follow the tradition of their craft. I really enjoyed hearing their stories and seeing their beautiful work. As an extra bonus, while I was watching I was doing some crafting of my own, stitching up the hem to one of my skirts.
I hope to watch the rest of the series as well, where other types of crafts are explored as well. You can watch the series here.

Paper cuts
Peter Callesen has created some of the smart, most delicate works I have ever seen. Not only must each cut be made with exact precision, but there is also a concept behind each piece.
On his larger scale pieces, you wonder - is that really made of paper?!
Some of his pieces also show the pop-up with the paper it was cut from, adding to the amazing effect. He turns regular white paper into something that can bring into another world, and with incredible emotion.

Felt cakes
Once you have gotten your brooch bouquet, take the next step in wedding preservation with a felt recreation of your wedding cake.
They look so tasty! Each cake is handmade by Angela at Vivian's Kitchen. Most of the felt colors are hand dyed on 80% wool felt for durability and quality. The details look amazing - at first glance, I hardly noticed that the cakes were felt!

Paper butterflies
I found these elegant butterflies on etsy in TerrorDome's shop. She uses texts which reflect different themes and turns them into mounted flapping butterflies!
